'She's probably the one to beat' - which filly is fancied for the Sweet Solera?

There is safety in going a tried-and-tested route. For punters, that would mean Wild Beauty and Sunstrike, who finished second and third behind ante-post 1,000 Guineas fancy Inspiral in the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown last time, a race that has produced three of the last four winners of the Sweet Solera.

The Star Stakes has proved the perfect stepping stone for improving two-year-old fillies looking to step up from novice to Group company.

Wild Beauty and Sunstrike are likely to sit prominent in the market and it would be a surprise if the former did not confirm the Sandown form given she is well suited to this stiff finish and was briefly short of room when challenging last time. However, there is rarely value in playing safe.

Charlie Appleby: ground not a worry for his runner

Riskier strategies include the maiden Shouldavbeenmore, who has to reverse Pontefract form with the reopposing Almohandesah but does not have much to find on the market protagonists based on her Listed fourth at this course when last seen.

Owners Nick Bradley Racing are also represented by the twice-raced Nurseclaire, who won a Carlisle maiden first time up but raced greenly at Ascot last time and has to improve. Similarly unexposed is Value Theory, who boasts a similar profile to Mark Johnston's three previous winners in this race in the last seven years.

A stout pedigree suggests this course-and-distance winner will be better over further in time, but she possesses plenty of toe and could lead from start to finish.

Andrew Balding is having an impressive season so do not write off Majestic Glory, who justified market support in a 6f novice here last month and deserves a chance at a higher level.

She was a bit unlucky at Goodwood and would have gone close. She is a filly I like a lot and although next year will be her time, hopefully she can pick up some black type here. Hopefully the ground will be nicer here than it was at Goodwood as she is a good-moving filly.

She's a filly we think a lot of, but the first couple of times we ran her over a trip that was just too sharp. The step up to seven furlongs really seemed to suit her last time.

Although she was beaten by Wild Beauty last time, this looks a good opportunity for her to get some black type. Seven furlongs really suits her and this doesn’t look the strongest Group 3.

We could have gone a slightly more cautious route, but the fact she won over course and distance on what is probably going to be similar ground were two positives to come here. She's a nice, straightforward filly and if she runs into the 90s she should be good enough to reach the frame.
