'She's in super form and you'd be hoping she might be able to take this' - who is confident going into Tipperary Group 3?

The first glimpse we had of Super Sox was in a maiden at Dundalk in April, and she didn't even win it. By the end of August she was rated 100 and arrives here in search of a Group 3 success having landed the Listed Platinum Stakes at Cork last time. She has come a long way in a very short space of time and she will take some stopping.

Super Sox is super progressive and it's her Curragh maiden win that stands out as much as anything else. On that occasion, she was too good for Galen, now a 105-rated colt who won his next two starts by a grand total of 20 lengths.

Super Sox has a nice draw in stall three in a race where so many like to dominate. Matilda Picotte has bundles of early pace and knows only one way of running. Ronan Whelan will point and go from stall four. But Wendla is best when making her own running as well, and Thornbrook likes to be prominent. Declan McDonogh is not going to give up his great draw in stall one too easily and there could be a ferocious early pace.

That shouldn't bother Super Sox too much as she can sit on the tails of the tearaways. She can lead, and has done so, but she doesn't have too, and her latest success at Listed level saw her track the pace before pouncing entering the final furlong. Those tactics could work again.

Matilda Picotte was second to Clever And Cool in this race last year and the filly who finished third to Mawj and Tahiyra in last year's 1,000 Guineas is the highest-rated member of the field with a mark of 106. Quick ground is a concern, though.

Super Sox's trainer Paddy Twomey won this race with Pearls Galore in 2021 and he might just be able to repeat the feat three years later.

Going report

After 24 hours of dry weather, the going is good to firm, good in places. There is no rain forecast.

What they say

Adrian Murray, trainer of Mammas Girl
She looks to have it all to do on ratings, but she ran well at Cork and she seems to be in very good form so we're happy to take our chance.

Kieran Cotter, trainer of Matilda Picotte
She's in super form and you'd be hoping a filly of her calibre might be able to take this. She was second in it last year and I'd love a bit more rain for her, but it doesn't look like we will get it looking at the forecast. That said, she ran very well on quick ground at Saudi Arabia this year, so she should be fine.

Joseph O'Brien, trainer of Thornbook and Without Words
Thornbrook is in good form. She's already a stakes winner and we're hoping to get some more black type for her. We're happy with her draw [stall one]. Without Words has been training well since the run the other day at Killarney and we're on the lookout for some black type with her as well.

Jessica Harrington, trainer of Raknah
She's been busy but she's taking her racing really well and I thought she ran very well at York. She's in great form.

Paddy Twomey, trainer of Super Sox
She's a progressive filly. We were delighted with the way she beat the colts the day she won her maiden at the Curragh and she went on to win the Platinum Stakes. We're very happy with how she's training.
