Red-hot jockey resumes profitable partnership - punting pointers for Tuesday's meetings

Punting pointers from each of Tuesday's meetings . . .

Ayr: can Redarna regain his crown?

Redarna has a brilliant record in the 7f handicap (3.25) and Dianne Sayer's stable star is bidding for a third win in the contest.

Now an evergreen ten-year-old, Redarna struck in back-to-back runnings in 2020 and 2021. He went on to cause a 66-1 shock in the 2022 Thirsk Hunt Cup and also finished second at the Shergar Cup that year.

He showed he still has the winning touch when scoring at Carlisle in August. After two subsequent fifth-placed efforts since, he is back down to his last winning mark.

"If he can win again he'll be the joint-leading horse at Ayr with eight wins, which would be marvellous," Sayer said: "He hasn't lost his pep at home and he won at his other favourite track, Carlisle, on ladies' night in August. Gina [Mangan] got on well with him there, so we've got her again."

Bath: Boughey bids for more Sheikh Mohammed Obaid glory

George Boughey has made a flying start since training for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum and has a strong chance of continuing the golden run with Hopewell Rock in the mile novice (3.15).

Boughey, who benefited from Sheikh Obaid removing his horses from Roger Varian this year, is operating at a red-hot 36 per cent strike-rate for the owner. From 11 runners for him, only one has finished out of the first four.

Hopewell Rock has been one of their winners together already, having looked a smart prospect when winning on his debut at Newbury in August.

The son of New Bay runs at a track where Boughey can boast a 31 per cent strike-rate, and the trainer is operating at a 24 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight.

Cork: apprentice answers O'Brien's call

Apprentice Jack Cleary has a fine record when teaming up with Aidan O'Brien. The 7lb claimer has a 23 per cent strike-rate for the trainer this year with six winners from 26 rides. He partners Win Me Over in the mile fillies' maiden (3.40).

The daughter of Kingman has a beautiful pedigree. Out of Beach Frolic, Win Me Over is a sister to multiple Group 1-winning miler Palace Pier and a half-sister to Group 3 victor Castle Way.

O'Brien and Ballydoyle also have Minnie Hauk in the race. She cost €1.85 million at the sales and is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Tilsit.

Sedgefield: juvenile hurdle to note

The 2m1f juvenile maiden hurdle (2.25) has unearthed top-level performers in past with subsequent Grade 1 ace Knight Salute winning it in 2021 and the following year Emmet Mullins struck with McTigue, who went on to land a Grade 2 at Auteuil.

The Adrian Keatley-trained Model Approach, who finished third at Market Rasen on Saturday, is likely to go off favourite in this year's running, while Fine Point has his debut for Nigel Hawke and makes the long journey from Devon.

Hawke said: "We picked him up in the summer and he's done everything right. He works and schools well – we couldn't be more pleased with what he's done.

"We seem to go to Sedgefield a fair bit as I've got one or two owners around that part of the world. Hopefully, they'll get the rain as it seems the right race for him first time out."

Newcastle: red-hot duo team up again

Kaiya Fraser has been one of the standout apprentices this year and returns to the track to resume his red-hot partnership with trainer Rebecca Menzies.

The pair have combined for eight winners at a remarkable 50 per cent strike-rate, including a double at the track last week. Fraser is operating at a 29 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight.

Three Platoon represents the pair in 1m2f handicap (5.00). Fraser has two other rides on the card, Blackcurrent in the 5f handicap (8.00) and Patontheback in the 7f handicap (8.30).
