Ralph Beckett out to maintain impressive course form and Skelton newcomer to note - Monday's punting pointers
Punting pearls for Monday's meetings. . .
Pontefract: Beckett is back
Ralph Beckett's runners are worth paying attention to when heading north to Pontefract and the trainer has just one representative on Monday in Sir Dinadan (2.27).
The trainer is 3-10 at the track this season and has an overall 25 per cent strike-rate, while two-time Group 1 winner Angel Bleu is among the notable performers to have run there.
His runner in the 1m2f novice stakes was a good second at Haydock last time, finishing in between Godolphin and Coolmore runners. The step up in trip should also benefit his chances.
Beckett, who saddled Bluestocking to win Sunday's Arc, is in fine form in general too, operating at a 24 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight.
Stratford: Team Twiston-Davies out to continue good run
Last week was an excellent one for Nigel Twiston-Davies with a Thursday treble and Friday double at Fontwell, and he looks to Ballycamus to continue the red-hot run in the 2m6½f handicap chase (3.52).
The seven-year-old has not been seen since April but was a solid performer last season, winning at Chepstow and Warwick, before posting three second-placed efforts.
Stratford has also been a happy hunting ground for Twiston-Davies this season with three winners from his ten runners at the track, while three of them have finished second. Before racing on Sunday the trainer was operating at a remarkable 44 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight.
Willy Twiston-Davies, assistant trainer to his father, said of Ballycamus : "His work's been very good at home since he came back in and the horses are running well, so we're hoping for another big run. We had a great season last term but the horses seem to flourishing at this time of the year. We're looking forward to running him."
Stratford: super Skelton
Dan Skelton is 3-3 with runners in bumpers at Stratford this season and takes aim with Top Tier Gossip in the finale (5.37). The newcomer is a half-sister to Cheltenham winner Midnight River.
Yarmouth: top jockey out for more
It is the penultimate meeting of the year at the Norfolk track and Adam Farragher has three rides as he bids to become to course’s winningmost jockey in 2024.
He has ridden nine winners at the track this season, the same total as Billy Loughnane, but he is at Pontefract and Farragher can edge ahead with some decent chances.
The standout looks to be the Amy Murphy-trained Creative Lady in the opening mile nursery (1.40). She was a decent fourth here in September off 3lb higher and is fitted with first-time cheekpieces.
Murphy said: "She's in good form. She won her maiden well but for some reason or another she just didn't turn up at Newmarket last time, but we'll go again. Adam's been riding the track well and he has won on her too before, so that's another positive."
Farragher also rides newcomer Cynthia (2.50) and Dream Pirate (5.10) on the eight-race card.
Fairyhouse: in-form duo team up
Ross O'Sullivan is already enjoying a career-best jumps season and saddles one live hope as he bids to keep his fine campaign on a roll.
O'Sullivan has trained 14 jumps winners so far this term, which is two more than his previous best haul of 12 in the 2021-22 season. Impressively, he is operating at a 23 per cent strike-rate this campaign too.
His Kildare yard remains in good form, as it is operating at a 20 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight with four winners, with three of those coming over jumps.
The trainer's sole representative on the seven-race card will be Banana Three in the 2m maiden hurdle (2.33). The four-year-old bids to improve on his jumps debut third at Wexford in August under Tom Harney, who is also operating at a 20 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight.
Killarney: purchase pointer
Get has arguably failed to live up to expectations so far, but the expensive purchase has a golden opportunity to get a first win under her belt in the 1m3f fillies' maiden (4.05).
Trained by Aidan O'Brien, the daughter of the late Galileo was purchased by Coolmore for 360,000gns two years ago but is yet to win in five starts. However, she has bumped into some classy performers, including Oaks heroine Ezeliya on her debut.
Get has been steadily improving though, and her best performance so far came when third in a 1m6f maiden at Navan last month. She drops significantly back in trip for this.
O'Brien, fresh from more Group 1 glory at Longchamp on Arc weekend, is in typically strong form too, operating at a 37 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight.
Wolverhampton: Eustace bids for first Shadwell winner
Shadwell have given Harry Eustace some opportunities and Wolverhampton could be where he trains his first winner for the powerhouse on Monday with Althaneyah in the 7f novice stakes (5.30).
The Lope De Vega colt is making his second start having shown some promise when eighth at Yarmouth last time out. George Wood takes over, looking to build on his 12 winners for the stable.
Eustace is 0-11 from his Shadwell runners so far, with the closest he has got two fourth-place finishes.
Wolverhampton: one to watch
James Fanshawe is 3-8 with his runners in handicaps at Wolverhampton with a level-stakes profit of +£15.88. He runs Yeoman in the 1m1½f handicap (4.23).
