Pretty Gorgeous out to confirm herself a top-notcher for O'Brien in Moyglare
Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1) | 7f | 2yo | ITV3, RTV & RTE 2
Of all the Group 1s on this exceptional weekend of racing, this one may be the most straightforward.
Joseph O'Brien's Pretty Gorgeous is well named and could easily be three from three, only to have been beaten in a tactical affair in the Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown.
On that occasion, Donnacha O'Brien’s Shale got first run on Pretty Gorgeous, but the latter reversed the form when running out a comprehensive winner of the Debutante Stakes over the course and distance last month.
A reproduction of that effort would leave Pretty Gorgeous extremely difficult to beat and she rates a worthy favourite.
One of the stories of the season has been Ken Condon's glorious run with his two-year-olds and Teresa Mendoza and Thunder Beauty represent the trainer here.
What they say
Dermot Weld, trainer A Ma Chere
She’s already got black type and if we could get her placed we’d be thrilled.
Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Divinely, Mother Earth and Snowfall
Mother Earth is in good form and we think she has come forward since last time. Divinely is back to seven furlongs but we think she'll be fine. The ground was very bad for Snowfall last time but we think she'll be much better on this ground.
Jessica Harrington, trainer of Oodnadatta
She got knocked coming out of the stalls in the Silver Flash at Leopardstown and never got going. The ground was a bit soft for her a couple of times which is why she's only running now but she's back in good form and we're hopeful she can show her true colours.
Joseph O'Brien, trainer of Pretty Gorgeous
She was very good in the Debutante. This looks a very good race but I’d be hopeful that if she can reproduce the form then that would make her very hard to beat again.
Donnacha O'Brien, trainer of Shale
She's in good form. The conditions will suit and the bit of nice ground should bring about improvement. We're hopeful.
Ken Condon, trainer of Teresa Mendoza and Thunder Beauty
Billy Lee has gone for Teresa Mendoza over Thunder Beauty. I suppose he feels Teresa Mendoza has had two runs and is a little bit more precocious and forward. She's a very nice filly and the drying ground will help. Thunder Beauty is a very nice filly, who I think will make a very good three-year-old, but she's in a very good place at the moment and has done well since her debut win.
