Perfect blend of quality and competition means Champions Day looks set to end the season with a bang

No horse has seen its stock fluctuate more this season than Economics. Off the charts as he won the Dante with rare authority, his value soon tumbled when the Derby was taken off the table and then a series of possible options were missed.

Rather than the ultimate stallion-making race at Epsom, he appeared next in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano – not the most obvious choice for a colt so heavily loaded with Classic potential. But in France, a whole three months after York, Economics showed he was worth investing in when trouncing Royal Ascot winner Jayarebe, who has since won the Prix Dollar.
