Patrick Mullins has first ride at Catterick and Jamie Snowden out to maintain perfect bumper record - punting pointers for Tuesday
Punting pointers from some of today's race meetings . . .
Catterick: Patrick Mullins makes first visit
Patrick Mullins makes a rare visit to North Yorkshire on Tuesday, having his first ride at Catterick aboard Ithaka in the 3m1½f amateurs' handicap hurdle (12.30).
Mullins has never ridden for trainer Ryan Potter before but the duo will hope the eight-year-old can follow up his impressive victory at Market Rasen this month.
The gelding is up 5lb from that two-and-a-half length victory and it's also his first visit to Catterick.
Catterick stat: Snowden looks to enhance perfect record
Jamie Snowden is 2-2 (100 per cent strike-rate) with bumper runners at Catterick, and won with subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner You Wear It Well in 2022. He sends Kosac D'Oudairies north (3.29) with Gavin Sheehan booked to ride.
Newcastle: Carroll looks to yard hero to continue best year
Tony Carroll secured his first century of winners on Monday and looks to continue his fine year with stable hero Recon Mission, who bids to end a drought dating back to July 2022 in the 5f handicap (3.55).
He won a £100,000 sprint at York in 2019 and has run well for the Worcestershire operation across the season. He's finished second four times in 2024, with two defeats coming by a nose, and he was only beaten a length at Wolverhampton on Saturday.
Carroll said: "He's been running well and it's probably disappointing he hasn't won by now, but it shows how competitive it is. He seems to have come out of his race on Saturday well enough."
This is Carroll's best season in almost 30 years as a trainer and he also has chances with Wedgewood Sapphire (4.30), Lequinto (7.00) and Cut To The Chase (7.30).
"Cut To The Chase won up there the other day and would probably be our best chance as he's a nice horse in the weakest race," said Carroll.
Wincanton: Imperial 'must have a chance'
Imperial Jade bids to overcome a couple of hard luck stories this season in the 2m4f mares' handicap hurdle (3.45).
The Charlie Longsdon-trained five-year-old finished third on her return at Chepstow in October after being headed at the final hurdle.
On her second start back, over course and distance last month, she suffered interference at a key stage before staying on to fill the same position.
"Last time, she got bounced off the rail turning in, lost her position and flew up the straight, and we need to make sure that doesn't happen again," said Longsdon.
"I'm not taking anything away from the winner that day, but she was running on and was going to be bang there. If she runs like we thought she was going to last time she must have a chance."
Wincanton stat: course jockey to note
Harry Kimber is 2-4 (50 per cent strike-rate) when riding at Wincanton this season and Ask Her Out is his only ride on the card. The six-year-old was a narrow winner at Plumpton at the start of the month and is among the favourites for the 2m4f mares' handicap hurdle (3.45).
