One key runner to note from each of the seven ITV races at Ascot and Haydock
Two For Gold
1.50 Ascot, Sodexo Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase
RSA Insurance Novices' Chase clues will be unearthed in this Grade 2 event, in which Two For Gold is one of several intriguing runners. The Kim Bailey-trained seven-year-old is 3-3 over fences this term, most recently winning a Grade 2 contest at Warwick.
Watch out in the winner's enclosure if Two For Gold maintains his unbeaten chase record as ITV Racing presenter Oli Bell is among his owners, collectively known as the May We Never Be Found Out Partnership 2.
The Worlds End
2.05 Haydock, Unibet Rendlesham Hurdle
Marsh Hurdle scorer The Worlds End is the star name in a six-runner event that has been won by Baracouda and Deano's Beeno – when the race was held at Kempton – and Kasbah Bliss at its new home.
The Tom George-trained nine-year-old gained a second top-level win at Ascot last time and could prove a main threat to Paisley Park in the Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle next month.
Domaine De L'Isle
2.25 Ascot, Keltbray Swinley Chase
Domaine De L’Isle has been a revelation for trainer Sean Curran this season and heads the betting with Grand National entry Valtor for this 3m handicap chase.
Brian Hughes is back on board the progressive seven-year-old, who has to defy a 6lb rise for a win over 2m5f at this track last month.
Rockadenn
2.40 Haydock, Unibet Victor Ludorum Juvenile Hurdle
The Paul Nicholls-trained Sir Psycho is the short-priced favourite in this juvenile heat and, given his powerful yard have won it in recent years with the likes of Quel Destin and Frodon, his presence in the line-up means he has to be taken seriously.
However, the one to take the eye is Rockadenn, the French raider who is seeking a five-timer. The Julien Merienne-trained youngster is in fine form having won his last four races over jumps – one over hurdles and three over fences, most recently a Listed event at Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Fleur Irlandaise
3.00 Ascot, Give The Gift Of Ascot Annual Membership Handicap Hurdle
A wide-open renewal and Fleur Irlandaise could prove a key contender at a big price.
The Nick Littmoden-trained mare belied big odds to run well when fifth behind Lady Buttons in a Grade 2 race at Doncaster last time. She has been placed at Listed level this season and certainly has each-way claims off a mark of 133.
Yala Enki
3.15 Haydock, Unibet Grand National Trial Handicap Chase
The Aintree marathon has been in the news this week and clues for the world’s most famous race will be unearthed in this Haydock trial, where Bryony Frost's National mount Yala Enki is among the leading contenders.
The ten-year-old backed up a good third in the Welsh National with victory at Taunton and could be shorter than 33-1 – a standout price with William Hill – for the Grand National if successful at Haydock.
Cyrname
3.35 Ascot, Betfair Ascot Chase
Britain’s highest-rated chaser Cyrname is the Saturday star as he bids for back-to-back wins in this £150,000 contest.
He aims to bounce back from defeat in the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase and would become the fifth dual winner – a feat achieved by Tiutchev, Monet’s Garden, Riverside Theatre and Cue Card – if accounting for his three rivals.
Note: ITV was set to show the Betway Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton but the meeting was called off on Saturday morning
