Listowel brings the curtain down on a successful Harvest Festival with one more busy jumps spread poised to be run on the sort of bottomless ground that is so synonymous with the Kerry mecca.

Had the meeting been held in its traditional slot this year it would have enjoyed a charmed rain-free week, but sod's law ensured the decision to push it back a week allowed the rain time to arrive in north Kerry. 

Sure, it wouldn't be the same without it. If there is some truth in such agricultural conditions actually helping to make Listowel the endearing staple it is, you would struggle to make a case for a similar outlook at the Curragh.
