Nigel Twiston-Davies bids to maintain unbeaten record and Jamie Snowden eyes bumper success - Tuesday's punting pointers
Punting pointers from some of Tuesday's five race meetings . . .
Fairyhouse: Ballyphilip out to complete seven-timer
County Down trainer Caroline McCaldin has one win from just five runners this season and Ballyphilip has a strong chance of adding more success in the 3m½f hunter chase (2.52).
The six-year-old has won on each of his last six outings, with five of them on the point-to-point scene, and posted a career-best effort when scoring in a hunter chase at Down Royal in May.
Ballyphilip brings the strongest form into the six-runner contest and regular rider Noel McParlan retains his partnership with the Presenting gelding.
The opposition includes course-and-distance winner Er Dancer and Ask D'man, who was last seen finishing second to that rival in a point-to-point at Stowlin in May. He was sent off at 4-1 for the race last year but disappointed, finishing fifth of six.
Hereford: another magic moment for Sheppard?
Matt Sheppard boasts strong form in handicap chases at Hereford this season and course-and-distance winner Moodofthemoment holds leading claims in the 2m5f contest (2.25).
The trainer has won two of the six races (33 per cent) he has been involved in, which has yielded a profit of +£11.50 from a £1 stake.
Moodofthemoment has been a revelation since joining the yard from David Dennis in the summer and he got the victory he deserved when scoring at the track last month. It was a career-best effort for the seven-year-old, who has placed second on his three other appearances for the stable.
Sheppard said: "He had quite a big reputation when he came out of Ireland and some of his form has worked out really well. He's won over the course and distance and although it's a step up in class, he should be okay to do it. I'm hopeful of big run."
Huntingdon: Jamie Snowden targets more bumper success
Lambourn trainer Jamie Snowden has enjoyed a strong start to the season and runs two of the seven runners in the 2m bumper (3.45) at Huntingdon.
Snowden, who has registered 21 winners this term, is operating at a 67 per cent (2-3) strike-rate in bumpers at the track and is responsible for Lady Tadita and Opale De Maine.
The former, a £30,000 purchase as a yearling, will be partnered by stable jockey Gavin Sheehan and the daughter of Masterstroke is a half-sister to winners Gitche Gumee and Mythical Moon, both of whom have won over hurdles.
Opale De Maine, who will be ridden by Tom Cannon, has been in pre-training for a year and is a half-sister to French winners Wajdam and Lisadame.
Speaking in his stable tour, Snowden said both horses would compete in the Junior National Hunt Hurdle programme.
Huntingdon stat: Nigel Twiston-Davies one to watch
Nigel Twiston-Davies has a 100 per cent record (2-2) with his runners in the 2m handicap hurdle (3.10) at Huntingdon and saddles Norman Fletcher, who was beaten only three-quarters of a length into second on his seasonal reappearance at Cheltenham last month.
Lingfield: in-form Walford counting on Chloe's Court
Robert Walford's yard has been in good form in recent weeks and the consistent Chloe's Court can take advantage of a small field in the feature 2m7f handicap hurdle (2.45).
The Dorset-based trainer boasts a 25 per cent strike-rate in the past two weeks, having registered two victories from eight runners in that period.
Although Chloe's Court is the oldest in the field at 11, the mare is enjoying her most consistent period and has every chance of starting the season how she ended the last. She almost produced a career best on Racing Post Ratings when scoring at Wincanton in March.
She goes well fresh, having won first time out last term at Exeter, and her last visit to the track came in November 2022 when she was only beaten half a length into second. Harry Kimber continues his partnership in the saddle.
Southwell: 'monster' Blenheim Lad seeks hat-trick
Camilla Poulton will attempt to extend her unbeaten run on Southwell's all-weather track this year as Blenheim Lad goes in search of a hat-trick in the 1m6f apprentice handicap (5.00).
The Lewes-based trainer has won with all Flat three runners she has sent to the track this term and her four-year-old son of Churchill came out out on top over this trip in September and October.
It will be another long journey for Poulton and her team, with the track just over 200 miles from her yard, but she is hoping Blenheim Lad can make the journey worthwhile again.
She said: "He's come out of his two recent runs really well and he's bouncing.
"He ran well at Wolverhampton, but we knew the long straight at Southwell would suit him because he doesn't quicken, he lengthens. He really has improved all season and he's a monster now."
Southwell stat: James Tate is a trainer to consider
James Tate is operating at a healthy 36 per cent (8-22) strike-rate at Southwell this year and sends Nakaaha for her debut in the 6f fillies' novice (6.30). Purchased for 62,000gns as a yearling, the daughter of Bated Breath is related to four winners including Listed German scorer Shaqira.
