Mike Murphy believes Garth Rockett has 'every chance' of continuing yard's form

Pinpointing the pace of this race is more important than usual, given most of the market leaders will be unsuited by anything other than a solid gallop to chase.

However, the inclusion of Bombastic, a regular front-runner who drops back in trip after pulling too hard over 7f last time, should guarantee they won't crawl.

Add in potential pressure on the front from Lua De Mel and the unexposed Save The Spirit (both of whom have led in the past) and it would be no surprise if they were reasonably strung out early on.

That would be great news for backers of Desert Land, who invariably breaks behind the field but has a useful change of gear if he's able to quicken into a pace collapse.

His penultimate victory over this course and distance was impressive, although evidence of his one-dimensional running style was shown last time when he failed to get involved off slow fractions.

Garth Rockett, a smooth traveller with a rather in-and-out profile, will race closer to the front than Desert Land but equally adores chasing solid sectionals.

Cappananty Con is clearly in cracking form at the age of seven and he should be bang on the premises with 7lb claimer Rhys Clutterbuck aboard again.

Inevitable Outcome may be the exception to the speed theory given she has plenty of early dash, although in recent outings her rider has sought cover in order for her to settle.

She is the most likely winner on the form book. The daughter of Ivawood won three times for former trainer David Simcock but appears to be still progressing now in the care of David Loughnane, and was unlucky to be beaten on the nod over 7f last time out.

The drop back in trip will allow all-weather supremo Luke Morris to settle her.

The market probably won't miss her but it might miss Real Estate, who isn't the most prolific but usually posts his best effort of the season on his second start back from a layoff.

Mick Attwater's charge notched back-to-back victories at this track last winter, including once over this trip, and although he remains 1lb higher than his last winning mark, previous exploits suggest he's more than capable of playing a part in the finish.

What they say

Mike Murphy, trainer of Garth Rockett
He's well drawn and ran into an improving sort last time when third to Power Over Me. He's come out of that in super form at home and goes there with every chance.

David Loughnane, trainer of Inevitable Outcome
She was unlucky last time when just done on the bob but she's very consistent and looks sure to be thereabouts. She's back in trip, which may be a touch on the short side, but she should be okay.

Robyn Brisland, trainer of Lua De Mel
She was not quite right when she disappointed for us first time but there were better signs in a claimer last time. She's a winner at the track and would have an each-way chance.

Jim Boyle, trainer of Desert Land
Anything could happen as he's a quirky horse who needs everything to drop right for him. He's got a decent draw but we'll see how it pans out.
