Lorna Brooke will be remembered at Fairyhouse on Tuesday as the stage of her biggest win hosts a race in her honour.

The Lorna Brooke Ireland v Britain Challenge Handicap Chase sees some of the best amateurs on either side of the Irish Sea take each other on, including ten-time Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Jamie Codd.

Fairyhouse general manager Peter Roe is thrilled that his track has the opportunity to pay tribute to Brooke, who won the first ever ladies' chase at the track.

The popular amateur rider, who memorably landed the inaugural Today FM Ladies Handicap Chase in 2015 aboard Moonlone Lane for Paul Stafford, tragically lost her life at the age of just 37 in April following a fall at Taunton earlier that month.

Roe said: "Lorna holds a special place in the history of racing at Fairyhouse by winning the first ever ladies' chase in Ireland or the UK. She was a great advertisement for amateur jockeys and the sport of racing, and the photo of her beaming smile while holding the trophy is very special.

"We are delighted that the Brooke family have allowed us to name the race in her honour."

A field of 14 has been declared for the 3m event and leading amateur Codd will be aboard topweight Moscowsowhat, but the likely favourite is Favori Logique from the Ross O'Sullivan stable and the mount of Maxine O'Sullivan.

Favori Logique has won three of his last five starts and that would most likely have been four of his last five had he not come down at the final fence with the race at his mercy at Sligo in September.

Ross O'Sullivan said: "Fair play to Peter Roe for coming up with the idea and it's great to see Lorna remembered at Fairyhouse in this way.

"Favori Logique has been ultra consistent all year and I'd like to think he goes there with a decent chance in what looks an open race. We're very lucky to have the services of a top rider like Maxine and I'm looking forward to seeing how they get on."
