Lester on the St Leger: 'The two best ones look to be Santiago and Hukum'
The legendary Classic king joins trainer Donnacha O'Brien on our expert panel
It's a wide-open St Leger at Doncaster. Who wins?
Tom Collins, Racing Post tipping It would be a great story if Pyledriver won but he might have to give best to a more unexposed type. Hukum and Galileo Chrome were the two on my shortlist and preference is for the latter, albeit the value in his price is quickly diminishing. Joseph O’Brien’scolt takes a big step up in class but has been so impressive this season and will stay the trip well.
Donnacha O'Brien, trainer It’s a very competitive race and there’s not much between a lot of them, but I think Pyledriver is a worthy favourite after his impressive win in York. Galileo Chrome has also been impressive against weaker opposition and he could prove to be up to this class.
Lester Piggott, legend of the saddle It seems a very open race this year. The two best ones look to be Santiago, who impressed me in the Irish Derby, and Hukum, who has been improving all year. I expect Joseph O’Brien’s horse Galileo Chrome will go well too after winning very easily last time out, and he’s with a trainer in form.
