Our Spotlight experts select their best bets for day two of the St Leger festival
1.40 Doncaster
British Stallion Studs EBF 'Carrie Red' Fillies' Nursery, 6½f
Daiquiri Francais seeks a hat-trick alongside Dora Penny, who carries topweight. Karl Burke and Clifford Lee have teamed up for two of the last four winners of this contest and combine with Favourite Child.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: DAIQUIRI FRANCAIS
Successful in Windsor novice events the last twice; Cheveley Park entry; big player
2.10 Doncaster
Weatherbys Scientific £200,000 2-Y-O Stakes, 6½f
In a race that often throws up future Listed winners, Ever Given seeks to follow up success at the Ebor festival against the promising Harrow, who has won his last two starts under the red-hot Oisin Murphy.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: HARROW
Progressive colt who won competitive nursery at York Ebor festival last time; respected
2.40 Doncaster
Cazoo May Hill Stakes, Group 2, 1m
Frankie Dettori and John and Thady Gosden seek back-to-back wins in this Group 2 contest with the unbeaten Inspiral, who landed a Listed race on her second start. Prosperous Voyage may be a danger following her Group 3 third 12 days ago, while Speak was an impressive winner on her debut at Kempton.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: INSPIRAL
Well-bred filly who is 2-2; won well in Listed grade at Sandown last time; the one to beat
2.55 Epsom
Emplas Express Jump Jockeys Derby Handicap, 1m4f
An opportunity for jump jockeys to test their mettle over the Derby course and distance. Tralee Hills seeks another Epsom success and is partnered by Jamie Moore, who last won this race in 2016. Edinburgh Castle has finished in the first three on his last nine starts and is ridden by Tom Scudamore, who was successful in the Jump Jockeys Nunthorpe at York this summer.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: TRALEE HILLS
Already had a prolific year and perhaps unlucky not to have won again at Newbury
3.15 Doncaster
Hippo Pro3 Park Hill Fillies' Stakes, Group 2, 1m6½f
The Dettori and Gosden team lead the charge once more with Free Wind, who was a ready winner in the Group 3 Prix Minerve and already has a course win to her name. Danger may come from Listed winners Yesyes and Save A Forest.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: FREE WIND
Readily won French Group 3 last month and has strong claims for top yard
3.45 Doncaster
Cazoo Handicap, 7f
Motawaajed was a course-and-distance winner last month and has been successful on three of his five starts. Godolphin's Modern News was a promising two-year-old and has raced once this year, lining up after a return victory at Newmarket in July.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: MODERN NEWS
Returned from absence to win at Newmarket and 6lb rise may not prevent a follow up
