Therefore, it's strangely reassuring to see a raging-hot favourite for the Paddy Power Gold Cup trained by Paul Frank Nicholls. The more things change, the more they stay the same around here.
Ginny's Destiny is a carbon copy of last year's winner, Stage Star, too. Both second-season novices; both bold jumpers; both like to dominate; both rated 155; both aimed at this race for ages. Both winners of the Paddy Power Gold Cup? That is for you to vote on. Is there such a thing as being too obvious?
It's staring us straight in the face, though. He's got everything you could want and there are proper punters, shrewd ones, who reckon 3-1 is a good price. Not since Cyfor Malta 26 years ago have we had a winner so short.
