Who said we have to wait for good things? Sometimes they come to those who don't wait, and Punchestown's Premiere Weekend, as it is being marketed, is in the business of doing impressions of Champion Hurdles and Gold Cups in November this year. Alistair McGowan, Rory Bremner and our very own Conor Moore would be proud of these particular impersonations. They are uncanny.
Take the Unibet Morgiana Hurdle (2.10), for instance. We don't just have the favourite for the Champion Hurdle in Lossiemouth, who is now into 5-2 with most firms following Constitution Hill's latest shenanigans, but we also have the second favourite and reigning champion in State Man. Oh, and Brighterdaysahead has been declared as well. Glorious.
Then, if that doesn't quench your thirst for competitive, classy jump racing at last, how about a John Durkan Chase (2.25) 24 hours later that contains the top three in the Cheltenham Gold Cup market and five of the top seven?
