Is there anyone who can fill Ryan Moore's giant boots? Graeme Rodway crunches the numbers on Ballydoyle's substitutes
With three of the first four in the market and four winners in the last 11 runnings, Aidan O'Brien's stranglehold on the St Leger is there for all to see.
Three of those winners were partnered by Ryan Moore, who took over as stable jockey in 2015 and has ridden 111 of the 158 Group 1 winners O'Brien has saddled since then. That only serves to underline how big a piece of the puzzle is missing for the Ballydoyle team in this Classic.
Moore is at Leopardstown instead and it is Wayne Lordan who takes the ride on the favourite Illinois in his absence. Lordan does at least know a bit about Illinois because he rode him to be second behind Moore on Los Angeles in the Great Voltigeur at York last time.
