'He's the pick of my rides' - leading lady Turner targeting more Shergar success
Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Classic | 1m4f | 3yo | ITV4/Sky
The last time jockey David Egan got the leg up to ride over this course and distance he was partnering Mishriff in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes.
The Saudi Cup and Dubai Sheema Classic winner, whose next outing will be in the Juddmonte International at York, put up a bold performance that day to finish second to Adayar, with his jockey determined to keep "riding the wave" for as long as he can.
Possible Man, Egan's mount in this race has not reached the same heights as his most famed partner, but has a progressive profile and is trainer Sir Michael Stoute's only runner of the meeting.
There is also a good chance Mark Johnston will have a say in the final result of this race, one he has won twice in the last seven runnings.
Johnston saddles three runners this time around – State Of Bliss, Annandale and Harlem Soul, the latter two representing the Rest of the World team, meaning the trainer could be more crucial to the overall standings than just who is first past the post.
What they say
Philip Kirby, trainer of Skycutter
He's not done a lot wrong on his two starts for us and any rain would definitely aid his chances. He goes there in form and you'd have to think that would give him a fair chance.
David Egan, rider of Possible Man
To get a ride for Sir Michael Stoute at Ascot, that’s what young jockeys dream of doing. I think he’s got a good chance.
Ian Williams, trainer of Buxted Too
He steps up in trip and we think that'll suit. We wouldn't want it to go too soft for him but we'll see how we go.
