'He's a Grade 1 horse in a handicap' - our panel pick their fancies for Saturday
Who wins the Betfair Ascot Chase?
Johnny Burke, jockeyIt's a trappy enough race, but it all leads to Fakir D'Oudairies for me. He made a bad mistake at the first fence last time, which put him on the back foot, but this looks a good race for him and I think there are some question marks about the others in the field. He'll handle the ground and ticks a lot of boxes.
Chris Cook, senior reporter This race produced Dashel Drasher's peak performance of last season and I'd back him for a repeat win at 6-1. He's improved significantly for each start this term and it won't take much more to win this. His usual front-running effort should play well and he has a 6lb pull with Two For Gold.
Pat Cooney, bet365 I've always thought prices dictate opinions, so on that basis Waiting Patiently is worth an interest at big odds. He easily beat the mighty Cue Card in this race four years ago and although he hasn't won since, he wouldn't be here if Christian Williams wasn't happy with him. That said, Saint Calvados probably has a more realistic chance.
