'He couldn't be in better form and I think he's got a brilliant chance' - which trainer is confident in this competitive handicap chase?

The smart Solness adds a bit of glamour to this handicap chase, as the 148-rated six-year-old is back down to a more suitable trip having failed to get home in the Galway Plate when last seen in late July.

His form before that had been rock solid. He won a Listed handicap chase over this sort of trip at Fairyhouse last December, before finishing third to Madara at the Dublin Racing Festival and a close-up fourth to subsequent Galway Plate winner Pinkerton at the Punchestown festival.

He has been running against a better calibre of opposition than the rivals he faces here and Oakley Brown has been booked to take off a very valuable 5lb as well. He could outclass his rivals.

The Banger Doyle is bang in form, though, and looks a big threat. Rachael Blackmore has been getting a good tune out of him of late and he travelled beautifully through a two-mile Flat handicap at Tramore on his penultimate start, and again last time at Clonmel where the trip probably once again caught him out a little.

His chasing mark of 134 is much higher than his hurdles mark of 109, and his Flat rating of 79, but he deserves it after beating Great Bear at Punchestown in June.

He was value for more than the winning margin there, too, as he made a mess of the last. He has never won off a mark this high, but that's not to say he can't and he arrives at the top of his game.

Another who is in rude health is the Mark McNiff-trained Presenting Lad, who has won his last three starts and completed the hat-trick in a competitive handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan 16 days ago. He was, however, put up 7lb for narrowly landing a six-runner novice chase at Tramore last month. That makes life much harder in this hotter heat.

Blinkers are applied to the unpredictable Magic Tricks, while others to consider are the consistent Bythesametoken and recent Kilbeggan winner Good As Hell, who has been put up 6lb for that.

Ian Power is back on Senecia and it is worth pointing out that he was in the saddle for his beginners' chase win at Ballinrobe last season when he was too good for the useful Hercule Du Seuil. If he came back to that sort of form, he would be a player.

What they say

Joseph O'Brien, trainer of Solness
He has to give weight away to everything, but this sort of trip on a flat track on dry ground suits him well. We'd be delighted if he were able to get a share of the pot.

Gordon Elliott, trainer of Magic Tricks and I A Connect
Magic Tricks was a bit disappointing at Wexford the last day, so we're putting a pair of blinkers on him for this. He's got some decent form over hurdles and hopefully he returns to the sort of form he showed earlier in the summer. Jack [Kennedy] is on I A Connect and I'm hoping he will show a lot more than he has on his two starts this year. He's better than the bare form of those.

Ross O'Sullivan, trainer of Bythesametoken
He's not getting any younger, but he's holding his form together well and been very consistent of late. It's nice prize-money and he should be bang there competing for some of it. He seems in great form.

John Ryan, trainer of Mount Frisco
He couldn't be in better form and I think he's got a brilliant chance. It's a race I've won a few times over the years and I'd like to win it again. He's a fast horse and a good jumper, touch wood, so hopefully he will take a bit of stopping. I'm very confident of a big run.
