Harry Redknapp bids for another Christmas winner while Gavin Cromwell targets Doncaster Listed prize again - punting pointers for Sunday

Doncaster: Cromwell targeting repeat Listed win
Gavin Cromwell won Doncaster’s Listed mares’ chase (1.38) last year with Limerick Lace, who went on to win at the Cheltenham Festival, and the trainer is plotting a similar route with Brides Hill.
The seven-year-old had a small setback after winning a Grade 2 at the Punchestown festival by 21 lengths in May but is ready for her first start in 240 days in the feature £75,000 event.
Other Irish representation is provided by Cian Collins’ 2022 Welsh Champion Hurdle winner Effernock Fizz, but Brides Hill is upwards of 7lb clear of her three rivals on ratings.
Her main market threat, Fantastic Lady, was pulled up in this race last season, while she beat last year’s runner-up La Renommee by six lengths at Huntingdon in January.
Cromwell said: “She's very ground-dependent and wants nice spring ground. She was very good at Punchestown in May when she made it four wins in a row and we'd love to get her to the Mares' Chase at Cheltenham.”
Kelso: can Back On The Lash bring Redknapp more Christmas cheer?
Harry Redknapp has already had a Christmas to remember on the track and old stalwart Back On The Lash will bid to give him more cheer in the 3m2f handicap chase for amateur jockeys (3.13).
The popular football manager enjoyed one of his biggest successes as a racehorse owner when The Jukebox Man stormed to Grade 1 glory in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. Redknapp claimed after that he could be the best horse he has had.
One of his regulars over the years, however, has been Back On The Lash. He has not won since landing a cross-country handicap chase at Cheltenham in January 2023 but put in his best performance in eight subsequent starts when third behind Sweet David at the same track last month.
The ten-year-old will be ridden by trainer Martin Keighley's son, Freddie, on his first start in Scotland.
Kelso stat: left-handed preference
Six – or 75 per cent – of Beat Box's career wins have come at left-handed tracks compared to just two right-handed. He runs in the feature 2m1f handicap chase (2.03).
Southwell: expensive buy makes his debut
A notable Flat horse to follow for next year could emerge at Southwell, with Nahy set to make his belated debut in the mile novice (1.15).
Trained by Andrew Balding, the three-year-old is owned by Prince Faisal, who had Mishriff run in his maroon colours. Having initially been sold for 200,000gns as a foal, Nahy was picked up by his connections for 525,000gns as a yearling in October 2022.
The son of Lope De Vega also has a nice pedigree, as he is a brother to Enfjaar, who won the John Smith's Cup in July.
Nahy will be partnered by David Probert and faces ten rivals, including the William Muir and Chris Grassick-trained Zepparella. She is by Invincible Spirit out of Group 1 winner Izzi Top.
Southwell stat: trainer to note in nurseries
Dave Loughnane has a 50 per cent strike-rate in nurseries at the track this season, with a £29 profit to a £1 level-stake bet. He looks to enhance that record with Sonic Si (11.35).
