Harry Cobden makes first trip to Sedgefield for one ride - punting pointers for Tuesday's action
Punting pointers from each of today's race meetings . . .
Fairyhouse: Jack Kennedy returns from ban
Gordon Elliott holds a strong hand in Fairyhouse's opener in which the Gigginstown House Stud-owned duo Cleatus Poolaw and Croke Park make their chasing debuts.
Jack Kennedy missed out on Brighterdaysahead's successful reappearance for the same ownership through suspension but returns in the 3m½f beginners' chase (12.00) to ride Grade 3 winner Croke Park, who has run at the highest level at Naas and Aintree on his last two starts.
Sam Ewing, who steered Brighterdaysahead to a successful seasonal debut at Down Royal last Friday in Kennedy's absence, rides Cleatus Poolaw, who finished second to Daddy Long Legs and Ballyburn prior to contesting last season's Pertemps Final.
Newcastle: four-timer bid
Knight Templar has been responsible for half of Robert Stephens' six winners this year, having completed a hat-trick since joining the trainer at the end of July.
Stephens bought the three-year-old for £9,000 from Sir Mark Prescott and he has already recouped that purchase price in prize-money earned from victories at Ffos Las, Haydock and Kempton.
The son of Haafhd has been upped 2lb for that latest success, which was his first on all-weather for Stephens, meaning he has officially progressed 12lb in the ratings.
Rob Hornby, who was on board for the gelding's most recent victory, continues the partnership in Newcastle's 2m½f handicap (2.40) as he bids to complete a four-timer at a fourth different venue.
Newcastle is not a regular trip for Stephens, who is based in Penhow, Wales. He has had only eight runners on the Flat at Newcastle, in addition to one over jumps, with no success.
Redcar: perfect course record
Binhareer bids to back up last month's course-and-distance success in the 7f novice (12.15) at Redcar.
The William Haggas-trained juvenile was a promising fifth behind subsequent Group 3 Zetland Stakes winner Starzintheireyes on his debut at Leicester in September and built on that effort to justify odds-on favouritism here last time.
The son of Dark Angel scored by two and a half lengths from Very Muddy Waters and the third-placed Jachin won a Catterick maiden on his next start, which suggests Binhareer should be able to cope with his 7lb penalty.
Fellow winner Wizard Of Odds disappointed on his handicap and stable debut for Stephen Thorne when finishing tenth at Dundalk last time but is an intriguing first ever turf runner in Britain for the Dublin-based trainer.
The Richard Fahey-trained Kodiac colt Noble Force, who cost £95,000 as a yearling, and the Sheikh Mohammed Obaid-owned Lord Capulet are eyecatching newcomers.
Sedgefield stat: great Gillard
Theo Gillard has ridden two winners from five mounts at Sedgefield this season and has a chance of enhancing that 40 per cent strike-rate on the Brian Rothwell-trained Lady's Charm (1.55) and Donald McCain's Into The Sunset (3.20).
Sedgefield: Cobden makes rare trip north
Charging Thunder has done nothing wrong since joining James Owen, winning at Yarmouth under Hollie Doyle in September before making a successful hurdling debut at Fakenham last time.
The six-year-old won six times on the Flat for David O’Meara before being bought for 20,000gns by Owen, who sends the son of War Command to Sedgefield, a track where he has enjoyed a winner from just two runners so far this season.
Champion jockey Harry Cobden has never ridden at Sedgefield and makes the journey to Durham purely to partner Charging Thunder in the 2m4f novice hurdle (2.10).
Owen said: "It was of a bit dramatic race he won at Fakenham. He's training nicely and has schooled well since, and he likes good ground.
"The horse who won there last time [Will Knott] looks the one to beat, but I quite like my horse and he should have a good chance. Harry is keen to go up there to ride him, which is a positive."
Warwick: course specialist
Getalead provided trainer Kevin Pickard with a first winner under rules when scoring at Wincanton last month and bids to follow up that 33-1 success in the 2m5f handicap hurdle (3.35) at Warwick.
The eight-year-old is able to compete off the same mark of 108 as that three-quarter length victory due to it being in a conditional jockeys' event. Getalead has won both off his previous starts at Warwick off ratings 4lb and 18lb higher than what he competes off here.
Pickard said: "It was nice to get that win out of him last time. He's such a great horse to have in the yard and to get him back to where he is now has taken a lot of effort.
"I'm very pleased to see him firing on all cylinders. He won over shorter last time, but I think we're in a nice place with two-mile-five. It's all about the ground with him – he loves good ground."
Warwick stat: juveniles to note
Dan Skelton has a noteworthy 50 per cent strike-rate at Warwick with juvenile hurdlers over the last five seasons, with three wins from six runners. He saddles two in the opening 2m contest (12.40) in hurdling debutants Flowering and Our Lil.
