Four horses who will relish the quick ground on day two at Royal Ascot
The going is good to firm for day two at Royal Ascot with another sunny day in store at the Berkshire track on Wednesday. Here are four horses who will be suited by the quick ground.
This ultra-progressive three-year-old is a son of fast-ground lover Free Eagle and is 2-2 on turf with both wins on good to firm on his last two starts, recording a peak Racing Post Rating of 106 when landing a 1m6½f handicap at Doncaster earlier this month.
Stamina is clearly a strong point for the Mark Johnston-trained runner and he is 4-4 since entering handicap company. This is a first crack at a Group 2 but he has leading claims in a race the trainer has won seven times since the turn of the millennium.
Bowerman is a massive outsider for this 30-runner handicap but quick ground may well help him outrun his odds.
The Ado McGuinness-trained seven-year-old, a son of the versatile Dutch Art, has run only twice on good to firm in 13 turf starts, finishing third at Nottingham when trained by Roger Varian and notably winning the Irish Lincolnshire for current connections at the Curragh last year, when he recorded a peak RPR on turf.
He has been mixing it in Listed and Group 3 company this year and may just appreciate the drop back to a handicap.

Soft ground may have been Chipotle's undoing in the National Stakes at Sandown and he could bounce back to form in this Listed event.
The Eve Johnson Houghton-trained Brocklesby winner also boasts course-and-distance form, having won a conditions race on good to firm at Ascot on his second start, and he cannot be discounted with conditions to suit.
Hollie Doyle rides: can she add another big-priced winner to her tally?
Kensington Palace Stakes (6.10)
Two starts on good to firm ground have brought two wins for this talented Godolphin filly and she has leading claims in the finale.
Stunning Beauty, a daughter of Shamardal trained by Saeed bin Suroor, produced a big career best when denying Royal Hunt Cup runner Beat Le Bon on quick ground at Doncaster earlier this month. A 3lb rise looks fair and she is very much open to improvement on her third handicap run.
