Can Sergio Parisse emerge from the scrum to claim victory on his first handicap start?

Carbine Harvester switches from Tapeta to Polytrack in his bid for a hat-trick having scored at Wolverhampton and Southwell last month.

The William Haggas-trained son of Diamond Jubilee Stakes winner Hello Youmzain was sent off at 10-1 and 17-2  for those successes, but surely won't be so overlooked as he embarks on his three-year-old career under a 6lb penalty.

The handicapper has put him up 10lb, so he's officially 4lb well in, but that wasn't enough to make him favourite on the early shows as Clive Cox's Sergio Parisse, running for the first time since he was a beaten odds-on shot at Salisbury in June, was put in ahead of him.

Sergio Parisse, a winner at Windsor the time before, was beaten just over three lengths at Salisbury, but the victor was Caburn, who subsequently won the Super Sprint at Newbury and is now rated 99. Sergio Parisse has had a wind op in the meantime and begins handicap life on a mark of 78, which could prove generous.

Other handicap debutants are Camera Shy and Dream Voyage, both of whom were evidently well enough regarded to attempt Group 3 company at two, although both finished last when they did.

Camera Shy was actually sent off at 4-6 for his Group 3 assignment at San Siro in June, but missed the break and then found trouble and was eased. A novice third in November may be a better guide to his ability, though.

Dream Voyage gave herself no chance of staying 7f when pulling too hard in the Sweet Solera at Newmarket in August, and the daughter of Kingman reverts to sprinting now.

What they say

Paul Attwater, trainer of Brosay
We were very pleased with his win at Southwell over Christmas and he’s been in good shape since. The negatives are that he has top weight and is drawn wide. We plan to drop in, and if he’s in the first three we'll be delighted.

Hugo Palmer, trainer of Dream Voyage
Every time her name is down to run she gets a temperature or something, including last month at Kempton when she had mastitis. She seems in good form and can hopefully finally get her winter campaign going.

Michael Bell, trainer of Camera Shy
He’s been working nicely and ran well last time at Chelmsford to be third. A mark of 79 looks workable. Carbine Harvester looks the one to beat.

Clive Cox, trainer of Sergio Parisse
He won well at Windsor and then ran equally well in a nice race at Salisbury last season. He’s ready to go and this looks a good place to start his campaign, although it looks a competitive little race.

Dave Loughnane, trainer of Rock N Roll Rocket
This should suit him better than the straight five furlongs at Southwell last time. He’s well drawn in stall one but does too much in front so we'll drop him in.
