Tuesday: 1.29 Limerick
Lyons Of Limerick Jaguar Land Rover Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) | 2m7f | 4yo+ | RTE2/RTV

Gordon Elliott will be hoping to land this Grade 2 contest at Limerick for the third time in four seasons, with Favori De Champdou and Jungle Prose making the step up in class.

Favori De Champdou has impressed in two outings this season after over a year absence from the track. The Gigginstown-owned seven-year-old won twice over a similar trip at Thurles, and is likely to have suitable ground conditions here. He's made up for lost time and is still open to further improvement, with this being just his seventh outing.

His biggest challenge could well come from stablemate Jungle Prose, whose stock has continued to rise as she arrives seeking a fifth consecutive win. Her first victory this season came over 2m7f at Thurles, before further successes at Down Royal, Punchestown and Navan. This is her first try at Graded level, but she has continued to find the answers on each outing. She has won twice on soft ground, and has the advantage of a mares' allowance.

The Oliver McKiernan-trained Kalanisi Star scored on his hurdles debut at Gowran in November. That victory came over a far shorter trip but he showed he may appreciate further when pricking his ears towards the finish. The five-year-old won a point-to-point over three miles at Corbeagh House last December, and is entitled to come on from his seasonal reappearance.

Letsbeclearaboutit finished fourth in a Cork Grade 3 race for Gavin Cromwell last time and didn't look out of his depth in that company despite holding maiden status. He was a classy bumper performer who ran Sir Gerhard close at Navan in 2020, and seems to have untapped potential.

Henry de Bromhead will hope Harry Des Ongrais can reverse form with Favori De Champdou, having finished second to him at Thurles last month. He has shown promise this season, including a comfortable win at Wexford, and is also a winning pointer.

Another Thurles winner will make a bid in the Tom Cooper-trained Sainte Dona. The mare was a 25-length winner over this trip last month and looks likely to set the pace here with another front-running effort.

Former Flat runner Female Approach completes the field. Denis Hogan's hopeful was last of 14 in a handicap at Dundalk last week, and has finished third three times in her six runs over hurdles.

What they say

Gordon Elliott, trainer of Favori De Champdou and Jungle Prose
Both are going there in good form. Favori De Champdou has been progressing well this season, and he got the job done nicely last time at Thurles. This will be another step up in class for Jungle Prose but she's been very good for us over the last few months and it'll be interesting to see how she gets on. On ratings, you'd hope she can be competitive.

Oliver McKiernan, trainer of Kalanisi Star
He's a grand, relaxed horse who doesn't show much at home but seems to be in good form. The ground should suit him, and stepping up in trip will hopefully be in his favour as well. He's won a point-to-point and has done everything right so far. This will be another step up, so it'll be interesting to see how he fares in a very competitive race.

Tom Cooper, trainer of Sainte Dona
We're throwing her somewhat into the deep end but she'll like the ground and the trip. Hopefully, she can produce a big run and get into the place money and pick up a bit of black type. She was very impressive last time at Thurles, and she seems to have improved again since.
