Can fledgling trainer continue his winning streak? Punting pointers for the action at Wolverhampton and Southwell
Punting pointers from today's race meetings
Southwell: Morland bids to continue red-hot run
New trainer Jack Morland has been successful with his last four runners and bids to continue his top form with new recruit Gaassee (5.05) in the 1m3f handicap.
Gaassee landed the Jorvik Handicap at York for William Haggas in 2022 but has been winless in 11 starts since. He was bought out of Archie Watson's stable for 20,000gns in July.
Morland said: "Gaassee is having his first start for us. He's been off a while and should come on for the run in what looks a competitive race."
The trainer is also represented at Wolverhampton with Angel Of Antrim (6.50), who seeks a four-timer on the back of victory at Newcastle on Thursday.
Morland said: "Angel Of Antrim is carrying an extra 5lb for his win at Newcastle and it looks a big ask from stall nine, but if the cards fall right he could run a good race."
Southwell stat: Peter Chapple-Hyam
Peter Chapple-Hyam has a 100 per cent record in three-year-old handicaps at Southwell in the last four seasons. He saddles handicap debutante Tango In Paris, who is the mount of Callum Hutchinson in the 6f finale (7.05).
Wolverhampton: Vibrato takes aim again
The progressive Vibrato seeks a fourth success in his last five starts for Jennie Candlish in the 1m½f handicap (7.50).
Vibrato failed to win in novice company in two starts for John and Thady Gosden but has turned the corner recently for new connections.
George Wood's mount landed a Newcastle novice by seven and a half lengths in November and has since been successful in two of his three handicap starts, including over 7f at this track.
Vibrato recorded a Racing Post Rating of 90 when successful at Newcastle six days ago and carries a 5lb penalty for that win, taking his revised mark to 84.
Candlish said: "He seems to be going the right way and improved for the step up to a mile last time. I thought that was a nice performance as the front two pulled well clear. He seems to be thriving so hopefully there's more to come."
