Jack Morland has made a bright start to his training career, with his Angel Of Antrim taking the all-weather by storm in recent weeks.

The five-year-old bolted up off a mark of 51 at Newcastle in December when fitted with a visor and is now rated 34lb higher after three more victories in the headgear.

He was a very impressive winner of a 0-60 handicap last time, but has been hit with a hefty 10lb rise and this 0-85 represents a big jump in grade, so he will have to find more, although that can’t be ruled out.

Conversely, Harvard Sound is dropping two grades, having finished down the field in a 0-105 handicap on his first try at a mile at Kempton in November.

He was too keen to do himself justice that day but had been progressive over 7f before that, producing a career-best Racing Post Rating in a better race than this over course and distance in October, and it’s not hard to envisage this lightly raced sort running a big race from a 3lb lower mark.

A similarly unexposed four-year-old, Our Havana did well to go down by just half a length on his first start in 196 days at Newcastle last month after pulling hard for much of the race. This strong traveller is just 1lb higher here, but he failed to build on a promising reappearance last season so has a bit to prove.

Gemma Tutty has a good record when using Warren Fentiman (50 per cent strike-rate) and Ethan Jones (25 per cent), so Ormolulu and Enola Grey are worth considering, while Eligible is more exposed than most but beat a subsequent scorer over course and distance last time.

What they say

Richard Spencer, trainer of Pjanoo
He’s in good shape and we're hoping he can run well as he is in the sales next month.

Tom Clover, trainer of Harvard Sound
He’s back to seven furlongs having not seen out the mile last time and this is a drop in grade. He ran well at the track last time he was there and has been in good shape since.

Jack Morland, trainer of Angel Of Antrim
We were looking at a £45,000 race at Newcastle on Friday but that is over a mile whereas this is an easier option over seven over which he's been very effective. He’s run well at Southwell before and were he to win well we’re not ruling out running him again on Friday.

James Horton, trainer of Encourageable
The draw [ten] is against him a little and he has run two tame races but we think this drop back to seven furlongs will help.

Gemma Tutty, trainer of Enola Grey and Ormolulu
Both have been super consistent but a lack of pace would be a concern. If Ormolulu can settle she should be able to come late and if she can get into the top five it would be amazing. Enola Grey should also be bang there if things drop right.

Michael Herrington, trainer of Legal Reform
It all worked out nicely for him last time over this track and trip and hopefully the track is still riding slow. He’s up 3lb for his win but David Probert gets on well with him.
