An expensive Godolphin newcomer and top apprentice duo duke it out at Wolverhampton - punting pointers for Monday's action

Punting pointers from each of today's race meetings . . .

Hereford: juvenile to note for Williams

Jane Williams has a fine reputation with her juvenile hurdlers and she saddles a smart prospect in debutant Crest Of Honour in the 2m junior hurdle (2.30) at Hereford.

The French-bred colt is partnered by David Noonan and will seek to extend Williams' record in the division over the last four years, in which she has won with both juvenile hurdlers she has saddled at the course.

Crest Of Honour faces four rivals, including Aotano from Stuart Crawford's County Antrim yard, and Williams hopes the race can be a good introduction for him.

"We weren't expecting to take on something like Aotano but we're always confident with our juveniles," she said. "They're very well schooled. We've been training them since they were two and we know them well.

"He's from a nice family and seems like quite a precocious horse at home. We want a clear round and for him to enjoy himself first and foremost, and we'll see how we get on."

Kempton: can pricey Godolphin purchase make a winning debut?

Godolphin scooped the Dewhurst Stakes with Shadow Of Light on the Rowley Mile on Saturday and the superstar owners field an interesting colt in the first division of the mile novice (5.45) at Kempton.

Naval Command was a 360,000gns purchase at Tattersalls Book 1 this time last year and, like one of this year's top lots, comes from a famous Kirsten Rausing family, out of All At Sea.

He is, therefore, a half-brother to 2022 St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov, who also won the Irish version last year, and should have a decent chance of making a winning debut.

Kempton: key stat

Andrew Balding has a £20.15 profit to a £1 stake in three-year-old-plus handicaps at Kempton this year, with nine winners from 31 runners for a 29 per cent strike-rate. He saddles two more likely candidates on Monday in Grenham Bay (4.05) and Lzaz (5.15), who sports first-time blinkers.

Musselburgh: will Spurs net her hat-trick?

Come On You Spurs has looked to have the jump on the handicapper by winning her last two starts and the progressive three-year-old will bid for a hat-trick in the £25,000 fillies' handicap (3.50) at Musselburgh.

Having left Henry Spiller, she ran off a mark of just 55 on her debut for Richard Spencer in June, but has shown consistent form since moving yards, recording form figures of 2135211.

Come On You Spurs won by two and a quarter lengths at Epsom last time, so could have more to give, despite a 6lb higher rating.

Roscommon: Lyons out enhance phenomenal course record

Ger Lyons has been the man to follow at Roscommon this year with an astonishing strike-rate of 71 per cent from seven runners.

He is the most successful trainer at the track in 2024, with five winners, and will seek to add more to his tally with two runners on Monday.

Blue Soul has been placed on her last two attempts and lines up in the 7½f handicap (2.05), with top jockey Colin Keane back on the three-year-old filly.

Keane also rides Himalayan Heights, who was well beaten at the Curragh last time but steps into calmer waters here in the 1m2½f rated race (4.10).

Windsor: in-form Jones bids for more success

Jack Jones is a trainer making a name for himself and attempts to enhance his 31 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight with his solitary runner at Windsor.

Newmarket-based Jones, who landed the Super Sprint with Caburn in the summer, has saddled five winners from his last 17 runners and relies on Maid In Chelsea in the 5f novice (1.42).

The filly won comfortably at Wolverhampton last time and has just two rivals, including Mockirr, who was two and a quarter lengths behind her in third last time.

The trainer said: "She did it very nicely at Wolverhampton from a bad draw and she's always been a filly we've liked a lot. Despite the penalty she seems to be the one to beat here. She's come out of her race well and soft ground should suit her.

"She goes there with a good chance and should be able to confirm the places with William Haggas's horse [Mockirr]. She'll run her race for sure."

Wolverhampton: apprentice title contenders duke it out

Sean D Bowen and Joe Leavy have locked horns in the race for the Flat jockeys' apprentice title this year and the pair head to Wolverhampton in search of more winners at the start of the final week of the championship.

Bowen, who is two winners ahead, and Leavy both have six rides on Monday, including three against each other, and will be hoping to secure an edge on their rival before the evening is out.

Bowen's best chance could be Mesaafi in the sprint handicap (5.30), while Leavy's rides include Beset, who could improve again after a nice effort last time in the 1m4f handicap (8.00).

Wolverhampton: key stat

Kaiya Fraser is an apprentice on the march. The young rider partnered his first treble at Ayr on Thursday and is swiftly making a name for himself, operating at a 23 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight, with eight winners from 35 rides.

At Wolverhampton he is set to partner Maharajas Express (4.25), Gigastar (5.30), Juan Cool Dude (7.00) and Tasever (7.30).
