"We are getting to the climax now. The field takes a sharp bend and heads on the short run to two out. Chacun Pour Soi is still swinging on the bridle in third. He steadies into two out and measures it, slightly big. He lost a touch of momentum and there is a niggle now, but he still travels best and the last is fast approaching.
"Paul Townend squeezes between rivals, who are all hard at work while he focuses on finding a stride for the tricky last fence. He jumps it in front, takes off a bit sooner than ideal, but he hits the ground running. Only the final climb to go, and this is the moment of truth. The winning post is more than 250 yards away and 15ft above his head. What will this famously strong traveller find up the hill?
