A daughter of Camelot and Quevega and 13-length maiden scorer bid for Listed success - punting pointers for Friday's meetings

Punting pointers from each of today's race meetings . . .

Ascot: amateurs out for a memorable day

Five years on from winning the 7f handicap (2.12) for male amateur riders on his first ride at Ascot, Eireann Cagney returns to the Berkshire venue to participate in the same race.

Cagney helped King's Pavilion fend off the fast-finishing Patrick Millman-ridden Hawridge Storm by a neck in 2019 and the same riders clash again in Ascot's opener.

Beau Jardine is now rated 1lb lower than when winning at Salisbury in May and could help Cagney extend his perfect record at the track. Rachel Cook and John Bridger’s six-year-old was fourth off a mark of 89 when sent off the 5-2 favourite for Roger Varian on his only previous visit to the track in July 2021.

Patrick rides Crazy Luck for his father Rod and like 12 of the 13 other riders in the race, is bidding for his first winner at Ascot.

Dundalk: Hughes eyes Listed prize

It is a big weekend for Richard Hughes with No Half Measures tackling the Abbaye on the Arc undercard on Sunday and the Lambourn trainer bids for an early fillip when saddling Sayidah Dariyan in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Legacy Stakes (6.15).

The Jaber Abdullah-owned filly was a promising third on debut at Windsor and justified prohibitive odds when scoring by 13 lengths at Lingfield last time.

Hughes will be bidding for his first winner in Ireland as a trainer and has recruited the services of Billy Lee in the saddle.

He said: "We thought she'd win on debut but she got beat then she won really well last time. It looks a good race for her, she excels on the all-weather and the filly she beat at Lingfield finished second again the other night."

Revoke, a Juddmonte filly trained by Ger Lyons, heads the betting on the back of a convincing debut win at Naas.

Dundalk stat: Browne to bag another winner?

Willie Browne has sent out 12 winners from 67 runners at Dundalk in the last five years, with his runners positing a £1 level-stakes profit of £34.03. Realtin Fantasy contests the opening 5f handicap (5.10) and is Browne's only runner on the card.

Fontwell: high-class Moon bids for repeat

Reach For The Moon, a one-time Solario Stakes winner at Sandown in the royal silks, bids for back-to-back wins over hurdles in the 2m1f novice hurdle (2.35).

The five-year-old was a beaten odds-on favourite when second in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster and Hampton Court at Royal Ascot when trained by John and Thady Gosden.

He now races for the ownership of The Queen and the late Sir Chips Keswick and struck at the fourth attempt over hurdles for Jamie Snowden when an easy winner at Worcester in July.

The form was franked this week when the third I'm Ravenous won a maiden hurdle on his next start at Sedgefield.

Snowden said: "It took him a moment to get into the jumping mode, luck didn't really go his way the first couple of times. He got carried out at Stratford and came back a bit sore from his debut.

"I thought he was pretty impressive at Worcester last time, the form of that race has worked out well and we've been waiting for nicer ground."

Fontwell stat: take note of Lawes chasers

Toby Lawes has a 50 per cent strike-rate (4-8) with runners in handicap chases at Fontwell, posting a £1 level-stake profit of +£15. He saddles Sublime Heights, a winner on his last start at Chepstow in April (2.00), and the progressive Duhallow Tommy (4.20).

Gowran Park: another star Vega?

Cameletta Vega, a daughter of Camelot and Quevega, bids to take her record to 2-2 in the concluding Listed mares' bumper (5.20).

The Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old is closely related to four-time Grade 1 winner Facile Vega and Aurora Vega, who won this race last year.

Cameletta Vega made a successful debut at Galway in August, justifying favouritism by three and three-quarter lengths and recording the highest winning Racing Post Rating in the contest in the past decade.

Patrick Mullins maintains the partnership and Jody Townend rides stablemate Keep Up, who won at Roscommon in August.

This looks a potentially deep race, with Declan Queally's Mozzies Sister finishing a half-length second in a Grade 3 mares' bumper at the Punchestown Festival in May.

The Emmet Mullins-trained Dippedinmoonlight finished second to Mozzies Sister at Down Royal in August before winning easily at Downpatrick last month and is another in the mix.

Gowran Park stat: rider to note

Liam Quinlan operates at a 33 per cent strike-rate at Gowran Park as he has ridden five winners, two seconds and two fourths from 15 rides at the track. His sole ride is the Ray Hackett-trained Sequoiaspirit in the 2m4f handicap hurdle (4.10).

Hexham: Skeltons have strong chances

Dan and Harry Skelton combine with three in-form recent recruits on their trip to the Northumberland track.

Santa Clarita has a Worcester win and third to her name since joining Skelton for £13,000 in May and contests the 2m7f handicap hurdle (2.20).

Beat Box has been a revelation since joining the Alcester yard for £11,000 at the same Goffs sale, winning all four starts at Market Rasen, Newton Abbot and Worcester.

The eight-year-old is now 26lb higher than his first win for the trainer but looks the one to beat in the 2m novice handicap chase (3.30).

Got Grey similarly arrives in a rich vein of form, winning at Stratford and Bangor before finishing second in the Prelude Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen on Saturday.

He is 4lb ahead of the handicapper in the 2m handicap hurdle (4.40) and looks a key player off bottom weight.

Newcastle: Lord bids to strike on return

Pallas Lord bids for an eighth course success at this all-weather track in the mile handicap (7.30).

The Donald Whillans-trained six-year-old has recorded form figures of 212111421 at Newcastle this year.

He is now racing off his highest official mark since April 2022 and finished second when last in action at Musselburgh in April.

Pallas Lord carries top weight on his first start in 166 days and is ridden by Jason Hart, who has registered three wins and a second from seven rides on the handicapper.

Turbo Command, a course winner who finished second at this track last time, and Bernardine, a last-start second and sole runner at the meeting for James Fanshawe, appear likely dangers.
