Terrestrial television is back at Salisbury for the first time since the BBC covered the transferred Ascot fixture that featured the Cornwallis and Autumn Stakes in 2005.

None other than subsequent Irish Derby, King George, Irish Champion and Arc hero Dylan Thomas was beaten by the Vince Smith-trained Blitzkrieg in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes that day.

The 11-year-old triple Epsom Dash winner Caspian Prince was not around then, but heads the weights for this handicap, and meets another old stager in Encore D'Or, who was once as highly rated but was well beaten by Caspian Prince at Newcastle in June.

At the other end of the age scale, four-year-old Tone The Barone is making a name for himself having won four his five races this year.

His last-to-first burst to win at Ascot two Saturdays ago came at the expense of the front-running Konchek, who reopposes and will have competition for the early lead from the fast filly Poets Dance, who made all to win at Yarmouth last time.

What they say

Mick Appleby, trainer of Caspian Prince
He's in good order and the ground at Goodwood was too soft for him last time. He's still very capable of winning off his mark and the ground should be right for him to run well.

Alastair Donald, representing King Power Racing, owners of Well Done Fox
It's the first time he's going to get fast ground – every time we enter him it seems to rain! He showed when he gets his ground what he can do in the Palace House and he's on a good mark.

Clive Cox, trainer of Konchek
His form is pretty solid. He's in good order with himself, he's happy and enjoying his racing. The drop back to five certainly hasn't been a concern so I hope he'll enjoy the track.

Stuart Williams, trainer of Tone The Barone
I'm yet to be convinced he's as good on turf as he is on the all-weather. I know he won at Ascot last time but the straight track there is like Polytrack. I'm therefore only hopeful, not confident.
