$1.5 million foal makes debut and unbeaten chaser goes for five-timer - punting pointers for Wednesday's action
Punting pointers from each of Wednesday's race meetings . . .
Dundalk: $1.5m foal makes his debut for O'Brien
Dramatic cost $1.5 million as a foal and makes her debut for Coolmore in the 7f fillies' maiden (3.44). The daughter of Travers Stakes winner Medaglia D'Oro is a half-sister to Declarationofpeace, who got off the mark for Dramatic's trainer Aidan O'Brien at this all-weather venue in 2017.
She wears blinkers for her first run and will be partnered by Ronan Whelan, who has ridden two winners from five rides for O'Brien this season.
O'Brien is also represented by a couple of colts who have demonstrated a decent level of form in defeat in the following 7f maiden (4.15).
Serengeti was third behind stablemate Twain at Leopardstown and the winner went on to land the Group 1 Criterium International just eight days later. First Wave was beaten only a neck by Expanded on his debut at the Curragh and the winner subsequently split Shadow Of Light and the previously unbeaten Ancient Truth when runner-up in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes.
Fakenham: Instant Gambler bids for five-timer
Instant Gambler has been a revelation since going over fences and could complete a five-timer in the 3m novice handicap chase (2.20).
The eight-year-old began his chasing career after a 565-day layoff with victory off a rating of 64 at Fontwell in September and will have to defy a 7lb penalty for his latest success at the same venue, which came off a mark of 85 last Wednesday.
Should Richie McLernon's mount oblige, he will ensure trainer Alex Dunn surpasses last season's total of five jumps winners. Nevendon, her other winner in that sphere this term, runs in the 2m½f novice handicap chase (3.20).
Dunn said: "It's been an absolutely fantastic time for us with Instant Gambler and we're on such a high. He's bouncing at home and is ready to go again. He's been brilliant and inspiring to what we can achieve.
"Nevendon has been brilliant too and remarkably he went from winning over fences to running a stormer on the all-weather last time. He's back chasing and has been such fun for our racing club."
Kempton: Lake Victoria form represented
Angelica Bay has finished runner-up on three of her four starts, with the exception being when understandably beaten quite a long way when sixth in the Sweet Solera Stakes.
That Newmarket Group 3 was won by Lake Victoria, who has gone on to land the Moyglare and Cheveley Park Stakes and is red-hot favourite for the John Deere Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Friday.
Before Lake Victoria bids to complete a hat-trick at the highest level at Del Mar, Angelica Bay will attempt to get off the mark in the more low-key affair of the 7f nursery (5.00).
The daughter of No Nay Never makes her handicap debut off a mark of 75 and given that she chased home the 88-rated Handcuffed on her debut and the 86-rated Orchid at this track last time, she should be competitive under Rob Hornby for trainer Ollie Sangster.
Kempton stat: hot combination back in action
A £1 stake on all 26 of Dougie Costello's rides for Charlie Appleby would have returned a profit of £18.92. Costello could enhance his 35 per cent strike-rate for the Godolphin trainer on either Dancing Colours (5.30) or Season Of Light (6.00).
Newton Abbot: Cheltenham chase winner reverts to hurdling
Hymac returns to the scene of his successful rules debut to contest the opening 2m5½f novice hurdle (2.00).
The eight-year-old had been winless in five starts since scoring by four lengths in a bumper at this track in March 2022 when landing a 16-runner handicap chase at Cheltenham in April.
The step up to a marathon trip of 3m4f sparked that career-best performance from Hymac, who chased home subsequent Kim Muir runner-up and Scottish Grand National third Git Maker in one of his point-to-points.
This third start over hurdles is a low-key return to action after a 196-day break, but his trainer Harry Fry has not saddled a winner since May. He will be hoping to change that swiftly as he starts to bring more of his winter runners out.
Nottingham: Frankel colt Opportunity goes in must-watch maiden
As well as the Eclipse, Irish Champion and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero it is named after, Nottingham's EBF Stallions Golden Horn Maiden Stakes (1.05) has produced another Derby winner in Adayar, who won this race in 2020.
Therefore, the opening 1m½f event is worth keeping a close eye on for potential Classic contenders, and William Haggas, who won this last year with Laafi, is represented by newcomer Opportunity.
The Wathnan Racing-owned son of Frankel cost 475,000gns as a yearling and Clifford Lee, who has ridden two winners from just four rides for Haggas, has been booked with the owners' retained jockey James Doyle in action at the Breeders' Cup.
Haggas is also represented by Al Mubhir in the feature Robin Hood Stakes (2.08). The five-year-old, who was beaten just two lengths by subsequent Champion Stakes winner Anmaat at Haydock in August, drops down to Listed company for the first time since landing Sandown's Gala Stakes four starts ago.
Nottingham stat: Appleby could add to his tally
Mick Appleby is the leading trainer at Nottingham this season and he could add to his eight winners with Blind Beggar (3.08) or Mehmo (3.38). A £1 stake on all 45 of Appleby's runners at the track this term would have yielded a return of £42.25.
