Pressure was mounting on the leadership of the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) on Friday after board member Sam Hoskins resigned complaining that the body was being run "like a dictatorship".

Hoskins, a leading syndicate manager who was first elected to the ROA board in 2017, said he had felt long-standing frustration at being "fobbed off" over issues including shared ownership and he called on president Charlie Parker and chief executive Charlie Liverton to start listening to the board and membership.

In response, the ROA said that "healthy challenge and debate" was welcomed as part of a collaborative culture at board level.
