Paddy Power Betfair completes rebrand to Flutter Entertainment
The parent company of Paddy Power and Betfair began trading under its new name Flutter Entertainment on Tuesday after receiving approval for the rebrand from shareholders at its annual meeting on May 15.
The name harks back to the early days of exchange betting when Betfair merged with rival Flutter. The group's brands, which also include FanDuel in the United States and Sportsbet in Australia, will continue as they are.
Chief executive Peter Jackson said: "Flutter is a key participant in the global sports betting and gaming market, with a strong product and brand portfolio and over six million customers worldwide.
"We think our new name better reflects the diversity of the group and supports our future growth strategy. We'd like to thank our shareholders for approving the change."
GVC approved
GVC Holdings, the parent company of Ladbrokes Coral, revealed on Tuesday that it had received the required regulatory approvals from the Nevada Gaming Commission to operate in the state for an initial two-year period.
It clears the way for Roar Digital, GVC's joint venture with casino giant MGM Resorts, to offer online betting and online gaming, currently limited to poker, in the state.
In addition Roar Digital has received clearance from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to operate in that state.
GVC chief executive Kenny Alexander said: "I am delighted the Nevada Gaming Commission has confirmed that GVC meets its stringent regulatory requirements in order to offer betting and gaming products in the state.
"Coming at the same time as Roar Digital receives a transactional waiver to operate in New Jersey, GVC and our MGM joint venture are hitting important milestones which pave the way for the creation of a market-leading US betting and gaming business."
