Time for a Big Mac? How British racing is looking to McDonald's for inspiration

At first glance there would not appear to be a huge amount in common between British racing and fast food giant McDonald's.
However, having listened to Bob Langert give a keynote speech to the Racing Foundation's annual conference at Ascot last week on the subject of social licence, there are some lessons for the sport to learn from what McDonald's has gone through in recent decades, and there are others that it seems to have already taken on board.
Langert was vice-president of corporate social responsibility and sustainability at McDonald's and the man the company sent in when there was a fire to be fought. As he told those at the conference, there were a few of those as McDonald's went from somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat or take the kids for a treat to being "under attack all the time".
