These times have proved one thing: when racing needs to, it can work together

These last weeks have proven beyond all doubt that when racing works as a unit and everyone pulls in the same direction we can get things done, both practically and effectively.

All stakeholder bodies are naturally most concerned about the well-being and prospects of their own members, but there has been a total acceptance that we are all in this together.

Be it contact and liaison with Westminster and the DCMS, or concerns about the breeding season, racecourse overheads, the plight of trainers – particularly if owners take horses away to reduce their costs – or the predicament for stable staff and their present dilemmas or the problems facing our 400-plus professional jockeys, all of whom are self-employed.
