It feels like several geological strata have formed since the London Olympics in 2012, which might be why you do not hear much about them anymore. It is something of a relief at this end, for three of the four abiding memories grate on me.

The positive one is Chris Hoy winning the Keirin having hit 1000 in the run on most people's internal in-running market. Super Saturday would have been good, I guess, if your mate Steve hadn't insisted you stayed in a television-less pub for 'one more pint.'

The opening ceremony has since given rise to the specious viewpoint that it was an accurate portrayal of the country at that moment, and not Danny Boyle doing a tasteful and impressive mash-up of Wish You Were Here and Thought For The Day.
