Boxing Day is the best day of the year for mixing quality and quantity - and there's no excuse not to go racing
It's the most wonderful time of the year for racegoers. While the majority of people are counting down to Christmas, followers of our sport have not one but two days to get excited about.
Boxing Day, or St Stephen's Day as it is known in Ireland, is the biggest day on the calendar when it comes to mixing quality and quantity with five Grade 1s and 11 meetings. It is a day that showcases the rich variety of racing and, with so many fixtures spread out around Britain and Ireland, there is no better time for a day at the races.
The King George VI Chase at Kempton is the star atop a lavish tree on a sparkling card featuring three Grade 1s, while Leopardstown and Limerick kick off their respective four-day Christmas meetings.
