No controversy this week. None whatsoever. That's a promise. Quite frankly my shoulders aren't broad enough.

A columnist's life used to be so much easier when you could spew an idea into the ether and then wait to see whether the green-inkers could be bothered. Now, thanks to digital advancements, everyone's a critic these days.

But whatever the flak directed at Racing Post columnists who have tackled emotive subjects in recent days, jockeys clearly get far worse abuse online on a regular basis. It is worth noting, therefore, that two of them – James Doyle and Adam Kirby – covered themselves in glory in more ways than one last week.
