Let joy be unconfined – racing finally returns to Hexham next Wednesday.
No spectators will be allowed in to admire the breathtaking views that have scarcely changed since the border raiders came rampaging over the hills many hundreds of years ago.
And in a year when countless thousands have died, it would not dream of claiming to be a prime victim of Covid-19.
