Proper soft autumn ground is here - so here are the sires that can help find you winners for the rest of the Flat season
With the exception of one or two tracks it's more than likely that the remainder of the Flat season will be run on testing ground. Ability remains the biggest factor that will decide the results but adaptability will come much more to the fore when trying to work out which horses will go on the ground.
Many think that is easy enough by just going through the form and seeing which horses handle testing ground but soft ground at one track is totally different from soft at another, so it's not as straightforward as is often made out.
Consequently, I often think the best shortcut is by identifying the sires that have a great record in the mud and the one that has caught my eye in recent weeks is Territories, who was responsible for two juvenile winners at York at the weekend, both at decent prices. The first was the Dominic Ffrench Davis-trained Mirabeau, who was an impressive winner of the sales race on Friday, while Fearless Freddy overcame all sorts of trouble in running to win the nursery on Saturday.
