It’s really sad to be starting my column on the sidelines once again. As many of you will remember, that’s exactly what happened last year.

I still can’t quite believe that I broke my elbow in a fall from Double Ross at Sandown last Sunday. Immediately afterwards I thought I was okay and went out to ride in the next race.

It was only when I woke up the next morning that I knew something was wrong. The elbow was treble its normal size, so I went along to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for an x-ray, which revealed I had a fractured olecranon, the long bone in the forearm.
