There is nothing quite like a talented youngster to raise hopes and to help gloss over a sub-par sporting year.
It happens in football all the time – Manchester United’s woeful performances last season were somewhat mitigated by the zestful displays of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. Indeed, a good few fans of the club were more inspired by their emergence than by the club’s unexpected victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
How pleased, then, must John and Thady Gosden be feeling about the arrival of Solario Stakes winner Field Of Gold, who has come along just at the right time to potentially save a season that has so far been moderate.
