To paraphrase the famous words from George Orwell’s Animal Farm: all Group 1s are equal, but some are more equal than others.
I see this as the only reason Rebel’s Romance has not received greater acclaim for his victory in the Preis von Europa at Cologne on Sunday, which was his sixth success at Group 1 level.
Three of those top-level wins came in 2022 in the Preis von Berlin and Preis von Europa in Germany, as well as in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Keeneland in Kentucky.
