Confusion and caveats: why baffling new survey makes subject of gambling reform even more complicated
It can be quite hard writing anything about the new Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB) without the nagging feeling that it is going to fall foul of the Gambling Commission's guidance.
The main headline emerging from the GSGB, and the one that those reporting on it have leapt on, is the 2.5 per cent figure for problem gambling contained within the new official statistics.
That figure needs putting in context against the previous, much lower figures for problem gambling produced by the old NHS surveys.
