Cheltenham Festival handicaps should all have qualifiers - that's how you fix the rest of the jumps season
The column written by legendary owner JP McManus last week has prompted lots of reaction, largely because it’s hard to argue with McManus’s chief concern and everyone has their own ideas on how best to fix it.
McManus, you will recall, proposed reducing the field sizes for the Cheltenham Festival handicaps and hoped that, with connections forced to show their hand earlier, it would elevate the entire jumps season in the process.
