Big step along road to recovery as I get back behind the wheel

I have spoken plenty of times throughout this recovery process of the importance of ticking off milestones as I continue to build a new routine in the wake of my injury and I have recently taken a big step along the road by getting back to driving a car.

It feels fantastic to be behind the wheel again in a specially adapted vehicle that allows me to control everything with my hands, with a lever to the right of the steering wheel that is a bit like an old joystick, with a button on there that acts as the accelerator.

Getting used to driving entirely with my hands is a little strange but thankfully I've taken to it all quite quickly. In fact, I had to go for an assessment to be allowed to drive on my own and the instructor even joked I could have a future as a rally driver when I was getting up to speed on the dual carriageway.
