With regard to the decision not to allow Gina Mangan to ride in the Derby I feel the BHA is completely out of order.

It was saying in effect: “Owners and trainers may put up any jockey they wish to ride the horses they own or train. However, if we do not think the jockey is up to the job then we can stop them from riding.”

I don't know much about this young jockey, but she has a licence issued by the BHA. This licence should be enough to allow her to ride in any race that an apprentice may ride in and, yes, this does include the Derby.
