Being at the Cheltenham Festival is to see history made in front of your eyes - you can’t say that about Benidorm

Forget anything negative you might have read in recent days and, in particular, forget Benidorm – there was only one place to soak up the most magical four days of the jumps season last week and that was Cheltenham itself.
I was privileged to be at the track on Champion Hurdle day and, from the roof-raising cheers to the ‘Ole’ chants, it was a sensational experience – and that was without Constitution Hill winning the big race and the ‘bloodbath’ acca coming in.
The Cheltenham Festival is the World Cup, Super Bowl and Champions League final rolled into one. It’s the very best our sport has to offer, the famous roar from the packed grandstands before the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle totally unmatched by anything else we have in this game. The raucous reception given to Kopek Des Bordes and Paul Townend as they powered up the hill was unforgettable.
