Beat could help boost the bank balance on a day when upsets must be expected

A fabulous afternoon at Ascot is guaranteed and, taking everything into account, I think we're set for a number of upsets.

Qipco British Champions Day comes at the end of a long season and this year, not surprisingly given we're in late October, it takes place on testing ground. That makes me more inclined to stay away from the favourites where possible and look for sneaky bigger-priced horses.

Maybe the most interesting runner on the card is Roaring Lion, who reverts to a mile in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (3.15).
